ARUA, TSITICA and NISANSA are hosting a research forum on 13 and 14 March 2024 titled, “Pathways of Change in the Social Response to Climate Change in Unequal Societies in Sub-Saharan Africa and Latin America”
This transdisciplinary forum aims to advance the understanding of pathways of change in social responses to climate change. The forum invites abstracts, session and poster submissions from researchers and practitioners at all career stages to understand pathways of change in Southern Africa and Latin America. The meeting format caters for in-person exchanges with partial online streaming at the conference facilities at Cape Town’s Graduate School of Business in South Africa.
This symposium creates spaces for innovative and transdisciplinary exchanges to facilitate networking and collaboration between researchers, at all stages of their career and practitioners. The meeting format will cater for in-person exchanges with partial online streaming. The conference facilities at Cape Town’s Graduate School of Business cater for 80 participants in person.
Guiding questions for the conference are:
- How do societies respond to climate change in unequal societies in the Global South?
- How do different perspectives shape social responses to climate change?
- How do societal actors change rules and build innovative institutions in the governance of climate change?
- How can existing pathways transform societies inclusively towards a good life for all?
- What is the role of commons approaches and “nature-based solutions” in changing pathways?
If your work focuses on answering these questions, consider joining the symposium to share your experiences and knowledge either through a poster or a dedicated session.
